No matter which cultural setting you’re in, communication is key to effective work and ministry. The Department of TESOL seeks to equip students to be good communicators across cultural barriers. Whether your ultimate goal is to teach English, study linguistics, or translate the Bible into a new language, Cook’s TESOL department will give you the skills you need to be a competent cultural communicator.
The Department of TESOL focuses on addressing language-related problems and using language to solve a variety of human problems for the sake of God's redeeming work among all peoples. We equip Christian professionals in language-related fields to serve with integrity. The TESOL program is premised on the values of professional preparation, contextual sensitivity, cultural appropriateness, and ethical service.
The TESOL department also sponsors the new International Journal of Christianity and English Language Teaching.
