The Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz, Switzerland global learning center exists to equip students to communicate, live and work effectively in culturally diverse contexts to make disciples of all peoples and impact the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The global learning center allows Biola to bring quality cross-cultural education, training and mentoring to Christian workers in the field, enabling students from different organizations to learn from the professor and each other as they reflect on their ministries. This opportunity also allows Christians in the greater European region and beyond, who meet Biola’s admissions standards for international students, to enter graduate studies.
Up to 21 credits of the Ph.D. can be taken in Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz, Switzerland. The remaining coursework for the Ph.D. programs must be completed at Biola during July intensives or during hybrid sessions or with online courses; but a only a maximum of 21 credits can be taken through online courses.
Up to 18 credits of the M.A. in Intercultural Studies and up to 19 credits of the Doctor of Intercultural Studies can be taken in Saint-Légier-La Chiésaz, Switzerland. The balance of the coursework can be completed with online courses or hybrid courses in La Mirada, California. However, no more than 18 credits of the M.A. in Intercultural Studies or 19 credits of the Doctor of Intercultural Studies can be taken through online courses.

The St-Légier global learning center offers graduate courses that can be applied to various degree programs. Please refer to the program details of M.A. Intercultural Studies, Doctor of Intercultural Studies, Ph.D. Intercultural Studies and Ph.D. Intercultural Education. All courses offered are designed to help missionaries, both expatriates and nationals, become more competent in cross-cultural settings. Specialized courses can be developed for the specific needs of the individual students.
The St-Légier global learning center offers semester-long courses taught by Cook faculty in intensive, two-week classroom sessions with continuing online communication with professors throughout the remainder of the semester.
Sessions are taught once a year in early January.
The courses being taught in St-Légier are also currently offered on the Biola campus towards the Ph.D. in Intercultural Education program. This allows interested students to complete 49 percent of the coursework in St-Légier, Switzerland, and the remainder of the coursework on Biola's campus in La Mirada, California Please contact Rebeca Burnett at email@example.com for more information.
For M.A. and Ph.D. students on site in St-Légier, there is a tuition discount available that reduces the cost by one third. The tuition discount is given automatically to all M.A. and Ph.D. students attending class in St-Légier. No application is necessary. No discount is available for the Doctor of Intercultural Studies program because the reduction is already built into the standard Doctor of Intercultural Studies tuition rate.
It is the student's responsibility to provide transportation costs to and from St-Légier, Switzerland. As part of our agreement with Emmaus Bible Institute, they will provide all-inclusive room and board during your stay. Emmaus will provide all students with three meals a day, prepared by their own in-house chef. When you register for class, you will be given an option of a private or shared room and bath.
