Many people live with cultural near-sightedness — not understanding or appreciating the vastness of the customs, values, languages and behaviors that have defined the world’s many peoples. Anthropology provides us with cultural eyeglasses, broadening our view of humans around the world and throughout time. With this expanded perspective and practical research tools, the Department of Anthropology seeks to equip students to address the pressing global issues of our day, including human trafficking, poverty and health issues.
