Distance Education

The School of Intercultural Studies is proud to offer classes in the MA in Intercultural Studies and the Doctor of Missiology (D.Miss.) through extension centers located in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Kiev, Ukraine.

The purpose of the extension centers is to bring education programs to missions field workers in Southeast Asia and Europe. The centers serve missionaries, expatriates and international students who are currently on the field and are unable to attend classes at Biola's La Mirada campus. Students learn cross-cultural principles and social science-based models, which they are then able to apply directly to their work.

These extension centers are places where students can learn from one another as they discuss the common situations they experience as foreigners living in another culture. They provide a critical link in the process that enables dedicated workers to increase their field efficiency through strengthening their educational background.

Both centers offer semester-long courses taught by the School of Intercultural Studies faculty in intensive two-week classroom sessions with continuing online communication with professors throughout the remainder of the semester.
